Trick or Treat 10

What fun!!  To hear the giggles......that smell of the orange plastic pumpkins loaded with Halloween candy......watching day turn to night.....and wondering how it ever turned into such a mere, short, 2 hr event.......then the sound of all those candy wrappers as they scatter across the floor.  Dumped out for all to sort, and still the smell lingers............


This year, a greek goddess, a black cat witch, and a passenger who is merging into adulthood........reflecting that he has probably seen his last childhood trick or treating...........who then...........at the final turn..........grabs a bag and leaps out of the car...........into the path............joining childhood again for a fleeting moment.........making mommy smile................and want to hug him......close my eyes and remember his first costume...........then the many more to follow...........Woody, Buzz, a fireman, Darth Vadar, Darth Mahl, a Dirt Bike Rider,  a Rapper, Obama, and so on.  As they run from house to house.......I think of all the Halloweens.................and how blessed we have been........and how fast it goes by.  But that smell still lingers..............and we know it will soon give way to another holiday.........leading us towards another special occassion..........the celebrations of life!


For me,  fall will always be........those moments.........when I stop and cherish............all that we have...and how I somehow manage........to scavenge all the dark chocolate from those mounds and mounds of Halloween candy.........which is few and far between :)
